What is child abuse? Well, child abuse in a nut shell is the physical, emotional, and sexual mistreatment of children, seems plain and simple, right? But even the smallest action towards a child may be considered child abuse. Physical abuse is any non-accidental injury to a child such as kicking, hair pulling, spanking, biting, etc. Emotional abuse is any attitude or behavior that interferes with a child's mental health and/or social development. This type of abuse may include yelling, name-calling, negative comparisons to others, shaming etc. Also may include failure to show or provide support and affection that is necessary for a child's social, physical, and intellectual well-being development. Sexual abuse is any sexual contact between an adult and a child, which includes: fondling, penetration, intercourse, oral sex, child prostitution, group sex, and forced observations of sexual acts.
Child abuse may seem like a repetitive topic, but I chose it because I think it's not talked about enough in today's society. Some people do not fully understand child abuse and may perform one of the listed acts above and think it's okay and that it is a lesson learned; it's not okay though, it is still child abuse!
The different types of child abuse are common sense for the most part, which I had already known, but I personally would like to know more of the "nitty gritty" behind it all. "Nitty gritty" such as all the statistics, more about the consequences of people who do abuse child and what they deserve and how it can effect the child in their future besides knowing that it has an impact on the social, emotional development; I want to know more about this!
I totally agree with you. Child abuse isn't talked about and more people need to know about it to prevent it.
